Opportunities to Share Your Time and Talents

The vision of the Lewes Presbyterian Church  is “Believing, growing, and sharing the love of Christ".  Through the sharing of our gifts, talents, and financial resources we are able  to nurture the faith and encourage the spiritual growth of our members and friends through worship, study, fellowship, and mutual caring.  The brief descriptions below identify the opportunities to join in LPC ministries and activities.  At the end of each description you will find the name of a contact person, and an online form that will allow you to request additional information or to volunteer.  

  

  • Adult discipleship

    • Join a Life Group and build relationships with others through studying scripture and reaching out to others.  Meets monthly for 8-9 months.

     

    Attend a discussion group or a study.

              •  Adult Sunday School

                 Meets every Sunday from   

                 10:05-10:50 for 5-6 weeks per

                 study in the church library.           

                

              •  Bible and Book Studies  

                 There  are a variety of studies

                 offered over a short duration

                 throughout the year.  Times vary.

     

    Church Library  The library contains many resources that include books fr all ages and audio/visual materials.

     

    Lead a discussion group or study group.

  • building and grounds

    Assist with building maintenance.


    Help with cemetery/grounds clean up days.


    Help maintain the flower beds around the church building.

  • christian education - children and youth

    Assist with activities and events such as Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, bell choir, children's plays, the Lewes Christmas Parade, and Youth Group.

  • congregational fellowship

    Plan and organize fellowship events and activities.


    Assist with set up, clean up, and food preparation for events.

  • Deacon's Caring Ministry

    Caring Ministry


    Deliver worship flowers to shut ins.


    Provide and deliver meals after hospitalization or illness.


    Provide transportation to worship services, special events, or for personal needs.


    Sunday Worship


    Serve as a greeter for the 8:00 am, 9:00 am, or 11:00 am worship service.


    Help with communion preparation or clean up.


    Funeral/Memorial Receptions


    Assist with setting up and taking down of tables and chairs.


    Prepare food platters and drinks.


    Bake cookies.

  • Evangelism

    Help with Invite-Your-One Sunday campaign.


    Share your faith walk story.


    Promote evangelism within LPC.

  • Library

    Join the Library Committee.


    Catalog and shelve books.


    Maintain the "The Little Free Library."


    Manage the children's section of the LPC library.


    Write book reviews for the LPC Newsletter.


    Maintain the Library Shelf in the LPC Welcome Center.

  • missions  

    Volunteer to assist with mission events and activities.


    Go on mission trips.


    Serve as a liaison for a missionary or mission partner.

  • operation christmas child (OCC)

    Assemble boxes.


    Encourage friends and neighbors to pack boxes.


    Assist with staffing the display area in the Connection Center during the campaign period in October and early November.


    Participate in OCC work mornings in October.


    Join the crafter group to make items for the shoe boxes.

  • Prayer Ministry

    Participate in the Monday morning prayer team.

  • ruth project

    This project provides knitted and crocheted squares  used to create blankets for missions in South Korea.  You can join in this project by


    Providing knitted and crocheted 8" squares and other items.


    Donating yarn, crochet hooks, and knitting needles to use for this ministry.

  • Soup Ministry

    The LPC Soup Ministry operates from October through May and serves lunch on Tuesdays from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.


    You can volunteer by:


    Assisting with setting up the room.


    Serving the food.


    Washing Dishes


    Assisting with food preparation.


    Assisting with clean up,

    Sing in the choir.
